The 1st of the Rozen Maiden dolls, Suigintou was initially presented as a black-angel-winged villain in Rozen Maiden. Seemingly a typical cold-hearted antagonist, she had a strong desire to achieve her goal: that of 'killing' all of the other Rozen dolls to obtain their Rosa Mystica (souls) and become 'Alice' - the perfect girl that Father sought. At the end of the events of the first season, we learn why she was so zealous in the unpleasant Alice Game: she is an incomplete work.
Suigintou once again made an appearance in Rozen Maiden Traumend, this time unsuspectingly making a contract with a terminally ill patient named Megu. Suigintou was sympathetic towards this 'fellow Junk' human, aloofly caring for her. Her aggressive attitude was somewhat quenched when Shinku unexpectedly showed relief and apology on their reunion. The Maxwell Demon (a giant bunny, arguably a mediator for the Alice Game) told Suigintou that Megu's life could be saved if she was fed Rosa Mystica, which would renew her role as an independent antagonist. She had a "Sense of Rivalry" towards Shinku, in a sense of "only I am allowed to defeat her, nobody else".
The Rozen Maiden Overture OVAs reveal the history between Suigintou and Shinku. At first, Suigintou was an ordinary incomplete doll that began to move through sheer willpower and love for Father. Shinku took care of her and taught her how to walk among other things. This relationship fell apart, and Rozen blessed her with a Rosa Mystica. Thus the bitter resolution in Season 1's fights against Shinku are explained.
