Chiba Kirino is a smart and friendly second-year high school student with a cheerful personality that borders on the unusual but results in her having many friends and few enemies. Her friends may attest, though, that her most unusual characteristic would be her love for kendo.
One could speculate if Kirino would have become the club's president and later the captain of the female team if she wasn't the only active member of the team at the time. But her fellow club members would all agree that there couldn't have been a better choice. She is very reliable, always thinking of how to help the members improve by devising and improving their training regiments and providing moral support along the way. Kirino is the heart of the club through her ability to rally all the club members even in the toughest situations; sometimes all she needs to do is remind them of their mutual love for kendo.
If you are to cross swords with Kirino in a kendo match, you had better not expect an easy win. Despite not being the strongest member of the club, she still carries years of experience. Her greatest problem is a lack of concentration caused in part by her laid-back attitude and in part by how she is always thinking about her team members' matches even during own. However, a fully-focused Kirino will mean one hell of a match for anyone who faces her.
Kirino's dream is to lead the female team to the nationals someday but not without having lots of fun in the process!
