Great power attracts great trouble.
As if it weren't enough for her that she has to deal with infatuated schoolmates, unwieldy street gangs and all those waiting for the opportunity to stab her in the back, Mikoto is constantly being involved in intrigues that put her ability to make moral decisions to the test again and again in a world where personal advantage obscures the distinction between right and wrong. Being the third strongest human in a city of two million doesn't make for an easy life.
Thankfully, Mikoto has enough idiots around her to take some of the load off her back. Between her obsessive roommate and the infuriating loser guy who somehow always manages to one-up her in battle, Mikoto finds enough strength and support to face the difficult everyday life in Academy City.
Aside from being the infamous Railgun, though, Mikoto is also a normal girl with her own problems and feelings, no matter how hard it is to reconcile the two roles. She herself is probably unsure whether it's easier to face superpowered criminals or an unexpected date.
